Q. What is the Mac mini (Late 2018 model)?
A. It is a hardware update to Apple's popular Mac mini computer.
Q. When will the Mac mini (Late 2018 model) be available to buy?
A. The Mac mini (Late 2018 model) will be available to buy from 30th October 2018.
Q. How much will the Mac mini (Late 2018 model) cost?
A. It will start at US$799 but you will have lots of options to choose from some of which will, obviously, dramatically increase the price (see below).
Q. What are the processor options?
A. There are several options:
  • 4-Core 3.6GHz quad-core Intel Core i3
  • 6-Core 3.0GHz 6-core Intel Core i5
  • 6-Core 3.2GHz 6-core Intel Core i7
Q. What are the RAM options?
A. The Mac mini uses upgradeable 2666MHz DDR4 SO-DIMM memory. It can be configured as 8GB, 16GB, 32GB or 64GB.
Q. is the RAM "user" upgradeable?
A. It's not a simple process, so Apple recommends having the RAM upgraded by an Apple Authorised Service Provider but it is technically possible to upgrade it yourself.
Q. What are the storage options?
A. 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, 1TB or 2TB internal PCIe-basedSSD.
Q. What are the graphics options?
A. There is only one option - Intel UHD Graphics 630. But this is quite powerful and can run up to three displays (Two displays with 4096-by-2304 resolution at 60Hz connected via Thunderbolt 3 plus one display with 4096-by-2160 resolution at 60Hz connected via HDMI 2.0).
Q. What's new about this Mac compared to the previous model?
A. The following:
  • Apple T2 Security Chip
  • 4x Thunderbolt 3/USB-C ports (USB 3.1 Gen 2 up to 10 Gbps)
  • 2x USB 3 ports (up to 5 Gbps)
  • Gigabit Ethernet port (configurable to 10Gb Ethernet)
  • HDMI 2.0
  • Bluetooth 5.0
  • 802.11ac Wi-Fi
Q. Does the Mac mini (Late 2018 model) still come with a 3.5mm headphone jack?
A. Yes.
Q. What version of macOS does the Mac mini (Late 2018 model) come with?
A. It comes with macOS 10.14 Mojave or later.
Q. I don't want macoS 10.14. Can I install/run an earlier version of macOS on it?
A. No.
