How to Manually Remove Adobe Creative Suite 1 (CS1) Standard and Premium

Some important points to note before proceeding:

Although the Adobe supplied "Uninstaller" applications may work they do not fully remove Adobe Creative Suite.
These instructions will help you manually remove all the Adobe Creative Suite software (including Acrobat 6, GoLive CS, Version Cue), system items and preferences.
If your Adobe software is "Activated" as opposed to a multi-user licence edition you should make sure you have deactivated the software before your being to remove it. This is usually done by opening an Adobe application and going to the Help menu > Activation/Activate/Deactivate/Transfer Activation.
Due to the sheer number of files and folders to be deleted we recommend you print this document first and tick off each line as you follow it.
The instructions below include emptying the Trash so make sure you check the Trash for anything you may not want to actually delete.
These instructions will remove items for a specific version of Creative Suite. However, some items are the same across different versions of Creative Suite so if you are removing an older version but have a newer version installed that you wish to keep specific items not to be removed will be noted in red.
If necessary, your Acrobat (Distiller) PDF settings / .jopoptions files should be saved/backed up before proceeding with these instructions. Their locations can be found in this article.

Manual Removal

NOTE: Depending on what Creative Suite software you have installed and/or used some or all of the following items may be present on your hard disk. If a listed item isn't on your hard disk, don't worry, ignore it and skip to the next step.

Restart your computer (and login using an adminstrator account).
Quit any running applications.
Go to Apple Menu > System preferences > System > Accounts > your account name (on the left) > Login Items tab (on the right) and remove any Adobe items.
Go to Macintosh HD and delete the "Updaters" folder.
Go to Macintosh HD > Applications and delete the following folders:

Acrobat 6.0 Professional
Acrobat 6.0 Standard
Adobe GoLive CS
Adobe Illustrator CS
Adobe InDesign CS
Adobe Photoshop CS
Adobe Version Cue

Go to Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support and delete the "Product Registration" file.
Go to Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > Adobe and delete the following items:

"Acrobat" folder
Adobe Registration Database
"AdobePDF" folder (folder name without a space)
"Certs" folder
"Color" folder
"Fonts" folder
"Hyphenation" folder
"Linguistics" folder
"PDFL" folder
"Spelling" folder
"SVG Viewer 3.0" folder
"TypeSpt" folder
"Web" folder
"XMP" folder

Go to Macintosh HD > Library > Fonts and delete the following fonts:

Go to Macintosh HD > Library > PreferencePanes and delete the "VersionCue.prefPane" file.
Go to Macintosh HD > Library > Preferences and delete the following items:

com.adobe.distiller.plist
com.adobe.versioncue.plist
"EFI" folder

Go to Macintosh HD > Library > Printers and delete the "PPD Plugins" folder.
Go to Macintosh HD > Library > ScriptingAdditions and delete the "Adobe Unit Types" file.
Go to Macintosh HD > Library > StartupItems and delete the "AdobeVersionCue" folder.
Go to Macintosh HD > Users > ~your home directory and delete the "Adobe SVG 3.0 Installer Log" file.
Go to Macintosh HD > Users > ~your home directory > Library and delete the "Acrobat User Data" folder.
Go to Macintosh HD > Users > ~your home directory > Library > Application Support > Adobe and delete the following folders:

Acrobat
Adobe Illustrator CS
AUM
Color
FileBrowser
Fonts
TypeSpt

Go to Macintosh HD > Users > ~your home directory > Library > Caches and delete the following folders:

Acrobat
Adobe

Go to Macintosh HD > Users > ~your home directory > Library > Preferences and delete the following items:

Acrobat WebCapture Cookies

Go to Macintosh HD > Users > ~your home directory > Library > Preferences > Adobe InDesign and delete the "Version 3.0" folder.
Go to Macintosh HD > Users > ~your home directory > Library > Receipts and delete the following items:

com.adobe.Acrobat
com.adobe.Acrobat.Pro
com.adobe.distiller

Go to Macintosh HD > Users > Shared and delete the "AdobePDF 6.0" folder.
If you are running Mac OS X 10.6 or later:
1. In the Finder go to the Go menu > Go to Folder…
2. Enter "/private/var/db/receipts/"
3. Delete all items starting with "com.adobe.vc.update…"
Restart your computer.
Empty the Trash.
Remove the relevant Adobe Creative Suite related icons from the Dock e.g. Acrobat, Distiller, GoLive, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, ImageReady (just drag the icon off of the dock to remove it).
