A. It is a major hardware update to Apple's popular high-end, professional Mac Pro computer.
Q. When will the Mac Pro (2019 model) be available to buy?
A. The Mac Pro (2019 model) will be available to buy in the autumn of 2019.
Q. How much will the Mac Pro (2019 model) cost?
A. It will start at US$6000 (8 core, 32GB RAM, 256GB SSD, Radeon Pro 580X video) but you will have lots of options to choose from some of which will, obviously, dramatically increase the price (see below).
Q. What are the processor options?
A. There are several options:
  • 8-core/16 threads 3.5GHz (4.0GHz turbo boost) 24.5MB cache
  • 12-core/24 threads 3.3GHz (4.4GHz turbo boost) 31.25MB cache
  • 16-core/32 threads 3.2GHz (4.4GHz turbo boost) 38MB cache
  • 24-core/48 threads 2.7GHz (4.4GHz turbo boost) 57MB cache
  • 28-core/56 threads 2.5GHz (4.4GHz turbo boost) 66.5MB cache
Q. What are the RAM options?
A. The Mac Pro uses upgradeable 2666MHz/2933MHz DDR4 ECC DIMM memory (dependant on processor module). There are 12 DIMM slots so common configuration options are:
  • 32GB - 4x8GB DIMMS
  • 48GB - 6x8GB DIMMS
  • 96GB - 6x16GB DIMMS
  • 192GB - 6x32GB DIMMS
  • 384GB - 6x64GB DIMMS
  • 768GB - 6x128GB or 12x64GB DIMMS
  • 1.5TB - 12x128GB DIMMS (requires either the 24 or 28-core processor)
Q. is the RAM "user" upgradeable?
A. Yes. The Mac Pro has user-accessible DIMM slots.
Q. What are the storage options?
A. 256GB, 1TB, 2TB or 4TB internal SSD storage (2 slots).
Q. Will there be other internal storage options?
A. Yes. Apple's web site already lists:

Q. What are the graphics options?

A. Yes.
Q. Is the Mac Pro (2019 model) case locakable so it can't be opened like the original cheese-grater Mac Pros were?
A. Unknown at this point. We will update this article when information becomes available.
Q. Does the Mac Pro (2019 model) come with Kensington Lock slot?
A. No. But you can secure a cable around the handles like you could with the original cheese-grater Mac Pros.
Q. What version of macOS does the Mac Pro (2019 model) come with?
A. Apple's web site talks about macOS 10.14 Mojave but as this Mac Pro doesn't launch until autumn 2019 it will most likely come with macOS 10.15 Catalina.
Q. If it comes with macoS 10.15 and I don't want to run that will I be able to install/run an earlier version of macOS on it?
A. Highly unlikely, no.
